Our Story

The Past

In the year 1975, a small group of Muslims moved from Birmingham, UK to Maidstone, Kent. In 1995 Muhammad Azam worked hard to collect donations to purchase today’s Maidstone Community & Islamic Centre. From 1970 until 1995, Muslims would rent a church hall to carry out their religious obligations.

The Present

The centre is open for five daily prayers, educational circles, visitors, language classes and other needs of the community. Over 100 children attend weekend Islamic classes, who are taught and mentored by 8 teachers and volunteers. Over 350 men and women attend the Friday Prayer.

The dream

The new purpose built Masjid will accommodate 800 people to pray at one time. The main features will be: Four Modern Class Rooms, Three Main Prayer Halls for Brothers and Sisters, Multi-purpose Hall in the Basement, Library, Comfortable Flat for the Imam and 3 Shops to help the Masjid sustain itself and not having to rely 100% on receiving donations.

The Appeal

Whoever builds a mosque with the intention of seeking Allah’s pleasure, Allah will build for him a place in Paradise. Sahih Al-Bukhari, Hadith #441 | Vol.1
